The Position:

The Chemical Engineer is responsible for the design of new products, researching and testing components, and designing new processes for manufacturing and regeneration of membrane modules. This role is ideal for the accomplished chemical engineer who is experienced with experimental design materials selection, and product development, and is looking for an opportunity to shape a new product and company.

 

Responsibilities for this role are broad and will take place in a highly interactive environment. You will represent Chem E expertise in a problem solving environment with sales and marketing personnel, process engineers, scientists, the manufacturing team, and customers, in the development of new products and gas and liquid processing systems. You will have a high degree of autonomy with the expectation that you can deliver high quality end products. This role reports directly to the business leadership.

Position Benefits:

The pay range we are offering is $68,000-$80,000, based on experience and performance, plus stock options and bonus. CMS offers a suite of benefits including medical and dental, 401K, and flextime.

Responsibilities in an industrial R&D and manufacturing setting:

  • Engage in problem solving with sales and marketing personnel, process engineers, scientists, manufacturing team, and customers on development of new products and gas and liquid processing systems.
  • Design new products, processing equipment, and custom manufacturing equipment
  • Construction, modification, and troubleshooting of lab and pilot scale membrane test equipment
  • Work in a team environment which requires clear communication and listening skills
  • Self-management of daily, weekly, and more long-term tasks and goals
  • Generate / maintain product documentation including detailed part drawings, assembly sketches, layouts, control schematics, PFDs, P&IDs, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering and minimum of 2 years’ experience in new product development, or minimum of 5 years of similar experience
  • Demonstrated ‘hands-on’ experimental ability
  • Understanding of materials properties, characteristics and structure/property relationships
  • Creative and self-motivated, comfortable with non-routine tasks and engineering changes, and working on multiple projects as a member of several teams
  • Ability to effectively communicate ideas to all members of the organization
  • Preferred skills –Experience with MS Office applications, Analytical equipment (GC), basic membrane knowledge and process system design and setups
  • Helpful experience – Experience and knowledge of membranes, small volume manufacturing
