The Position

Compact Membrane Systems (CMS) is on a mission to save the planet. We create technology to capture and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, avert global warming, and transform industry into a long-term sustainable enterprise. One membrane system at a time.

We are expanding our team with ambitious, driven, creative problem solvers and doers who are excited about tackling a challenge and delivering a new product to market.

We are looking for creative and collaborative team members to join our research and development team. This role will be responsible for design of new products, researching and testing components, designing new processes for manufacturing and regeneration of membrane modules. This role is ideal for the accomplished Chemical Engineer who is experienced with experimental design materials selection, and product development, and is looking for an opportunity to shape a new product and company.

What you will be doing

  • Creative and self-motivated; Excited about variety, non-routine tasks, and working on multiple projects as a member of several teams
  • Demonstrated ‘hands-on’ experimental ability
  • Self-management of daily, weekly, and more long-term tasks and goals
  • Understanding of materials properties, characteristics and structure/property relationships
  • Skills - Experience with MS Office, Analytical equipment (GC), basic membrane knowledge and process system design and setups
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and minimum of 2 years’ experience in new product development, or minimum of 5 years of similar experience
  • Experience and knowledge of membranes, small volume manufacturing

Position Benefits

The pay range we are offering is $70,000 - $80,000 and will be based on experience. In addition to the annual salary, you will receive:

What you bring to the table

  • 5-10 years of practical workplace experience.
  • Business development, industrial system sales and capital projects experience and network in carbon capture or heavy industry sectors (e.g. cement, steel, kiln processes, hydrogen, etc.).
  • History of pioneering work and/or developing business for a new product (in a start-up environment a bonus).
  • History of success working with ambiguity and within emerging markets.
  • Creative and self-motivated, comfortable and experienced with being an individual contributor as well as building and leading a team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline: Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering; MBA a bonus
